‘Touchsafe’ dosimetry measurements
The Sartest ‘Touchsafe’ hand-held meter measures, in situ, the rate of absorption by body tissue of electromagnetic energy emanating from an emitter. The key sensing element is a standard, isotropic, 5mm SAR probe with 3 orthogonally positioned dipoles as active electric field sensors situated within a mass of electrically- lossy, tissue-simulant material selected to have an energy absorption characteristic similar to body tissue at the measurement frequencies of interest.
The probe is embedded in the tissue simulant material with a flat surface to enable contact measurement against structures such as walls or ceilings, which contain emitters. The meter can simply be pressed against an emitter or an emitter-concealing surface. The tissue-simulant material allows the electric field sensor to measure the combined energy absorption rate from both electric and magnetic fields. |

Application software
Software computation, using algorithms originally developed for compliant testing to current SAR measurement Standards, is used to display SAR value W/Kg directly, with both 1 and 10 gram averaging. The software runs under ‘Windows’ 2000 or XP. |
