The benchtop system provides a rapid way of measuring the SAR reductions associated with personal hands-free (PHF) kits.
With the probe stationary close to the PHF kit cable, the various configurations of phone and cable can be explored to identify all the worst-case situations - such as when the earpiece cable is wrapped round the phone's antenna. Then, comparative SAR scans can be performed with the PHF kit configurations and the phones without the PHF kits.
A large number of test configurations can be assessed rapidly in this manner." Results using the benchtop SAR system confirm the large reductions in SAR levels delivered by PHF kits (and reported now in many studies) - even when phone and PHF cable are in worst-case configurations.
